Al Matthews

Al Matthews (September 2 1944, Detroit, Michigan – October 6 2002, Spain) was an American actor. Over the course of his career, he played various roles.
Matthews played a Fire Chief in Superman III (1983), Sergeant A. Apone in Aliens (1986), General Tudor in The Fifth Element (1997), and Master Sergeant #3 in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). He died of cancer in Spain in 2002.
In real life, Matthews was a member of the United States Marine Corps. In fact, he was the first black Marine ever promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant while serving in the Vietnam War.
