AVALANCHE (Final Fantasy)

AVALANCHE is an ecoterrorist organization from the Square Co., Ltd. computer role-playing game Final Fantasy VII. They are antagonists to a multi-conglomerate, Shin-Ra, and their actions involving using the lifeforce of the Planet, Lifestream, and converting it into Mako energy for everyday usable power such as electricity. These actions are having detremental affects on the Planet, which AVALANCHE is determined to prevent.
AVALANCHE in Final Fantasy VII

The game joins as Barret is the current leader of AVALANCHE. Tifa Lockheart is also a member of the resistance faction, and it is she who convinces her childhood friend and ex-ShinRa SOLDIER Cloud to accept a bombing mission at the start of the game. Other members at this point in the storyline include Jessie, Biggs and Wedge. Later in the storyline these three characters perish by Shin-Ra actions, and Cloud joins the company of Barret and Tifa permenantly. As the game progresses, the group of AVALANCHE significantly increases.
AVALANCHE in Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII

AVALANCHE was founded by Elfe after the Midgar-Wutai war and was antagonistic in its views to the policy of Shin-Ra, a de facto world government and multi-conglomerate electricity provider whos daily actions threaten the stability of the life of the Planet.
Before Crisis: FFVII also introduces many new characters:
- Sears: A powerful leader of the militant faction whom often takes command of strategies.
- Fuhito: As the brains behind AVALANCHE, she excels in plots and schemes.
