AM transmitter Burghead
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
The AM transmitter Burghead is a transmission facility in the U.K. near Burghead (national grid reference NJ125685 ) in Scotland for long- and mediumwave established in 1978. Besides the longwave transmitter of the BBC, which forms with the AM transmitter Droitwich and the AM transmitter Westerglen a network for the same frequency, there are two mediumwave broadcasting transmitters for 693 kHz and 810 kHz on the site.
As transmission aerial for the mediumwave transmitters one guyed mast with triangular section, which is insulated against ground, is used. It is used for both frequencies. The transmission aerial for the longwave transmitter consists of a T-aerial spanned between two guyed steel framework masts.
