Discoverer A. de Gasparis, 1861

63 Ausonia (aw-soh'-nee-a) is a large main belt asteroid. It is probably a mixture of silicates and iron-nickel.

It was discovered by A. de Gasparis on February 10, 1861. 'Ausonia' is an alternative name for Italy.

Based on its lightcurve, a small satellite has been suggested [1] (http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/astro/asteroidmoonsq.html)
