34th Street-Herald Square station is located at 34th Street, Broadway and Sixth Avenue, at Herald Square.
Entrance on the south side of 34th Street at Broadway. May 2005.
- Until around the late-1970s there was a long concourse (but not a free exchange) between this station and the 42nd Street station to the north. It has since been closed and is used for storage.
- Until the mid-1980s there was a passageway (but not a free exchange) between this station and the 34th Street-Penn Station IND/IRT station to the west, but it too has since been closed.
- This station still has many entrances and exits, including one directly into Manhattan Mall and another that extends all the way to the eastern side of Fifth Avenue.
- Around the early 1990s it went through renovation, rehab and rebuilding, finishing in under a year and a half. The station is now completely Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant.
