25893 Sugihara
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
25893 Sugihara is an asteroid (also known as a minor planetary body) discovered by W.K.Y. Yeung at the Desert Beaver observatory. The asteroid was discovered November 19, 2000, and is named in honor of Chiune Sugihara, a Japanese diplomat who defied orders not to assist asylum-seekers fleeing Nazi persecution in Europe, and instead issued thousands of exit visas to Jews attempting to escape the Holocaust in Lithuania during World War II.
