Predictions relating to year 2020
- Malaysia would reach the status of a fully developed country.
- British newspaper The Guardian published a series of magazines in September 2004 predicting life in 2020
- George W. Bush stated on January 14, 2004 that humans should return to the moon no later than 2020, to prepare to eventually go on to Mars (but failed to specify the importance of doing so).

- Stipulated completion of restoration works to the Forbidden City in China
- Scheduled completion of the National Trunk Highway System in the People's Republic of China
- Earliest year that power aboard the space probes Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 is expected to terminate (though either probe may function past this date).
